Privacy policy

Short version: none, it all stays on your device

Last updated August 15, 2026

Smaran Ghanti ("the app") is a personal, non-commercial devotional app for Radha Naam Jap practice — a mala (japa) counter and configurable audio reminders. This policy explains what data the app handles.

Data we collect

None. Smaran Ghanti has no user accounts, no analytics, and no advertising SDKs. We don't receive your jap counts, reminder schedules, settings, or any other activity from your device — there's no server on our side for any of that to go to.

Data stored on your device

Everything the app needs to work — your jap counts and history, reminder schedules, and preferences — is stored locally on your device only, using on-device storage. Nothing is uploaded, synced, or backed up to any server we control. If your device has its own backup feature turned on (like iCloud Backup or Android's device backup), that's a function of your device's operating system, not something this app initiates or has any part in.

Network access

None. The app doesn't make any network requests. Its Hindi/Devanagari-capable typefaces (Hind and Yatra One, both from Google Fonts) are bundled with the app itself rather than downloaded, so nothing is fetched from anywhere, even on first launch.

Notifications

Reminder notifications are scheduled and delivered entirely by your device's own operating system. No reminder data ever leaves your device.

Home-screen widgets

If you add a Smaran Ghanti widget to your home screen, it reads your jap count from the same on-device storage the app itself uses. This is a device-local mechanism and doesn't involve sending anything over the network.

Third-party content

The app bundles a default reminder audio clip (a devotional recitation). This is unrelated to your personal data and isn't something the app tracks usage of.

Children's privacy

The app is a general-audience devotional tool. It doesn't knowingly collect information from anyone, including children, because it doesn't collect information from anyone at all.

Changes to this policy

If a future version of the app changes how data is handled (for example, adding optional cloud sync), this page and the in-app copy will be updated to reflect that before the change ships.
